Nazareth frontman and co-founder Dan McCafferty dies at 76

Dan McCafferty voiced the 1970s rock classic "Love Hurts" and "Hair of the Dog".

Dan McCafferty died on November 8 at the age of 76 of unknown causes.

Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew wrote on Instagram: "This is the saddest news I have ever heard, I have lost my best friend and one of the greatest singers in the world."

Dan McCafferty founded Nazareth with Agnew, Manny Charlton and Darrell Sweet in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1968.

He gained more popularity after the release of his third album "Razamanaz" in the UK in 1973.

He was not well known in the US at first, but rose to the top after the song "Love Hurts" from the 1975 album "Hair of the Dog" was released.

Dan McCafferty was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

In this disease the lungs are infected and the air coming from the lungs starts getting obstructed.

Dan McCafferty retired from his job in 2013 due to ill health.

Dan McCafferty records his last album "Last Testament" in 2019, despite his retirement.

Dan McCafferty died on November 8, 2022 at 12:40 am US time.
